CLUTTER CLEARING
Start Small
If just reading about this makes you feel stressed, worried,
or unhappy, you might find it easier to invite a friend over
to help you. He or she will not have the same attachment to
your belongings and will help you to be more objective. You can share some
happy stories along the way too, to ease process. The other
important message that I would like to give you is:
Start Small.
The thought of sorting through all your possessions is
a really daunting process for many people, but for those whose
lives are really stuck, whose energy is low, who may be
suffering from depression or anxiety, who may have suffered
physical, emotional, physical or sexual abuse, the challenge
can seem insurmountable.
Start Small. Choose one shelf, one drawer, or one box to clear.
It may take ten minutes; it may take ten hours; it really doesn't
matter as long as you keep at it. Even knowing that you have sorted
and cleared that drawer or shelf or box will truly make a difference
to how you feel.
Firstly, you have set yourself a goal and you have accomplished it.
Secondly, you will have released at least a few bits and pieces of rubbish
so you have started to let things go.
Thirdly, you have created a little space for something new and wonderful to
come into your life.
Be proud of yourself. Now move onto another shelf, drawer, or box and do the same.
The more that you do, the more the energy around you will start to free up, and
the more at ease you are likely to feel. You may not notice it at the time but
probably after a few weeks or a month, you will suddenly look back and realise
that you feel different or that your life has improved in some way. (Gosh, I'm
inspiring myself to tackle the last boxes from our move!)
