PERSONAL ENERGY CARE
Clearing, Centering and Grounding
Here is a very fast, simple and effective
technique that can be used any time you feel that you need
an energy boost, but which should ideally be done regularly
once or twice a day for optimum effect. Two minutes will
be a help but you would probably derive more benefit from
it if you were able to spend five to ten minutes on the
process. As it takes longer to explain than to do, you might
like to read through this a couple of times before you try
it, so that you don't have to keep checking back for the
next instruction - not very relaxing! Otherwise, you might
like to record the instructions for yourself, and play the
track back when you're ready to have a go.
Make yourself comfortable, relax and close
your eyes, preferably alone and where you won't be disturbed.
If it helps, you might like to put on some gentle, soothing
and relaxing music, or simply listen to the sounds of nature
if you are outside or in the countryside. Now, imagine a
root growing down from the soles of your feet and going
deep, deep, deep down into the earth until it finds a lovely,
secure place to rest and take hold. Notice how the earth
feels around the root: is it soft and peaty or hard and
stony? Does it feel warm or cold? Has the root had to divert
around some rocks or does it go straight down? Is it wet
or is it dry? If you are new to doing this kind of exercise,
you will probably find that the more detail that you look
at, the easier it will make the entire process.
When your root is firmly anchored in the
earth, be aware of a vast stream of beneficial, healing
energy flowing through the earth and around the root and
allow this to rise up through the root into your aura and
your chakras, renewing, refreshing and nourishing your energy,
just as it would a healthy tree. Perhaps you notice that
the energy flowing upwards has a colour? Does it feel warm
or cool? Is there anything else that you notice about it?
(Remember that the idea here is that you RELAX, so please
don't get too involved in THINKING about what happens -
just observe, rather as you would in a dream or day-dream).
Just be aware of the energy flowing up towards you; it will
just happen if you allow it to, you don't need to think
about it or force it.
While the energy of the earth continues
to lap over you, become aware of a second energetic connection,
this time coming down from the heavens, so to speak. Be
aware of a column of light, often perceived as golden, but
it may be rainbow-coloured or have another specific colour,
with you at its centre. The light shines down upon you but
also continues down into the earth. (If you are having difficulty
seeing or imagining any of this, pretend that you are on
holiday in a hot sunny place, and feel the rays of sunlight
warming you and washing over you.) As before, the light
may be warm or cool; if it feels uncomfortably far to one
extreme, imagine adjusting an air-conditioning control knob
until it's the perfect setting for you.)
Now, ask (or pray, if this is something
that you find comforting) that the energy from the earth
and the energy from the heavens fills your aura and your
whole being with wonderful, invigorating and healing light.
Breathe it in and feel it flowing through your bloodstream
to every part of your body, all your organs, all your cells.
Now just as your bloodstream takes back the used blood that
is of no further use to you, imagine that the energy that
has come into your aura and your body is washing away any
stagnation, negativity, blockages or other "stuff"
that is no longer useful and beneficial for you. Be aware
that as you breathe out, you are breathing out and ridding
yourself of all of old, depleted or negative energy that
you have been holding in your body. Be aware that with every
in-breath, you are increasing your personal energy levels,
boosting your positivity and benefiting your well-being.
(If you are concerned that the detrimental
energy that you have just released is still floating around
your aura somewhere, just notice it travelling back down
the root (think in terms of an in-pipe and an out-pipe)
to the earth for re-cycling or rising to the heavens for
transmuting to beneficial energy.)
As you really relax and start to feel more
energised, you may actually notice that you feel taller,
a bit as though a weight has been lifted off your shoulders,
and that's exactly what has happened on an energetic level.
You may choose to end the exercise here
by allowing your awareness to move outwards slightly to
the edge of your personal space - this is roughly the outline
of the inner layers of your aura (the outer layers reach
ever outward into the Universe) and allowing a pool of the
beneficial energies that you have gathered and experienced
to well up around you within this outline. Feel this wonderful
energy swirl around you in a clockwise spiral, from below
your feet to above your head. When you feel happy that you
have enough energy to keep you going all day, feel yourself
re-enforcing the protective membrane around the aura so
that nothing detrimental to you or your well-being may penetrate
it. However, you will want to ensure that beneficial and
positive energies are welcomed towards you. (You could imagine
setting a filter up around you, for instance, perhaps lovingly
created of the finest gold tread). When you are satisfied,
seal your aura, perhaps with a golden ribbon or gold lock
to which only you have the key.
Finally, with gratitude and peace in your
heart, feel the rays of heavenly light fade away (though
they are always there for you to call upon), and feel the
root releasing from the earth and coming back up to your
feet, though once more be aware that you are a creature
of the earth and are always connected to it and are nurtured
by it - this is known as being grounded. Take a couple of
moments to allow your awareness to return fully to your
normal wakefulness, being very aware of being at home in
your body, before you attempt to stand up and get on with
life. You should feel great, but if you feel slightly feint
or light-headed at all, imagine digging yourself down slightly
into the ground. Another useful trick is to click your fingers
close to your ears, as a sign to yourself that you should
now be fully awake and in your body.
Drink plenty of water after this exercise
or any energy work.
What About the Chakras?
Once you are completely used to doing the
exercise as detailed above, you might like to extend its scope
slightly to include working specifically on your chakras.
To do this, once you have connect made
your connections to the heavens and to earth, you might
like to become aware of the in-pipe rising up along your
spine which supports each of your chakras. Turn your attention
to your first chakra - the Base Chakra. Feel the new energy
flowing into it and around it, washing out any detrimental
energies that may be blocking it and let them drain down
the out-pipe, allowing the energy vortex to spin freely
again as it should. As before, it may help to notice the
colour of the chakra. If it doesn't match the usual set
of corresponding colours, don't worry in the slightest as
we all perceive energy somewhat differently. The main point
to look for is the quality of the chakra and its clarity;
the chakra should be spinning freely when you're finished
and the colour or energy should seem cleaner, clearer and
lighter.
When you are happy with the first chakra,
move your attention to the second chakra, the Sacral Chakra,
and repeat the process. Do the same thing for each of the
chakras in turn.
Once you have finished clearing and refreshing
the Crown Chakra (the top one), allow the pipes to recede
with gratitude, and return to the first chakra again, sealing
it from any detrimental energies. You may imagine yourself
locking it or marking it with a equal-armed cross or other
protective symbol. Continue back up along the chakra system
again, sealing each in turn. Once this has been completed,
carry on with filling your aura with beneficial energy,
continuing the previous part of the exercise.
As you become more accomplished at this,
you may find that other images occur to you. As long as
they feel safe and enhance your well-being, you might like
to explore some of these possibilities.
