ABOUT MARIA
Maria Hayden is a
geomancer, dowser and space clearer, based in Co Wicklow, just south of Dublin,
Ireland, but also working from Southwest London and
travelling throughout the British Isles. On occasion, Maria can
also facilitate internationally based clients.
Geomancy tends to be broken into
two principal fields of interest. The first deals
with the energy in homes and business premises, usually
those that are out of energetic balance with their
occupants and thus feel uncomfortable in some way, and
need to be brought back into harmony with their occupants
and environment. The second regards increasing our
understanding of at ancient sacred sites, as well as the
construction of labyrinths and other new sacred spaces.
Both aspects of geomancy cinsider our relationship with
landscape and all that surrounds us, including the world of Spirit.

Maria is one of a growing number of geomancers
to feel that both strands are equally valuable and fascinating
and that each has a significant role to play in a world
where many, including large corporations, feel that materialism
alone is not enough.
What this means in practice is that, on one hand, Maria may
be called to properties that are suffering from geopathic
stress or a variety of other energy problems, an aspect
of the work that frequently involves dowsing, earth acupuncture,
space clearing and spirit release skills, as well as possible
aura healing for the clients themselves. As every space
is different and every person is different, each situation
is unique and interesting and it is very rewarding to hear
feedback of some of the wonderful life changes that people
have felt free to make afterwards. However, Maria is also
passionate about the importance of sacred space to our souls,
and delights in working with clients and other practioners
in the creation of personal or community sacred spaces such
as labyrinths. She is happy to offer workshops and talks
on a range of topics to groups of all ages.
A chance encounter with an inspiring earth
healer and energy practioner almost a decade ago led Maria
to realise that many of us understand much more about our
homes than the purely physical details of flooring, lighting
and soft furnishings, although we may not have the vocabulary
to articulate this. She also quickly grasped that when the
underlying energies in our spaces are out of harmony with
ourselves and our needs and wants, this causes us stress,
ultimately leading in many cases to dis-ease, and even disease.
Being naturally sensitive to energy, and
with equally sensitive children who suffered a range of
symptoms, from asthma to a constant unexplained “sore tummy”
to nightmares, as well as “seeing” black blobs of energy,
spirits and energy lines in the house, led Maria to having
a geomancer clear the energy in her own home. The difference
in the energy spoke for itself; far from feeling heavy and
stressful, as well as looking quite gloomy in spite of every
shade of yellow under the sun having been applied liberally
to the walls, it now felt light, relaxed, happy and sparkling.
It seemed so much easier to breathe and even the cut flowers
appeared to last longer. The children too were much happier
about sleeping in their own rooms, and the room that previously
no one used (much of the family clutter was dumped in there)
became Maria’s own personal haven, and her favourite room
in the house (clearing it out suddenly didn’t seem like
a huge problem anymore).
It was the realisation that, in English-speaking
countries at least, there seems to be very little public
awareness of both the detrimental energies that may be found
in our homes and workplaces, coupled with the recognition
that many of these problems can be treated effectively,
with a significant knock-on beneficial impact on people’s
health, happiness and family life that proved the catalyst
in her life. This lead Maria to embark on a professional
geomancy training programme, in addition to undertaking
training as a professional space clearer and instinctive
feng shui practioner. She has continued to add to her skills
over the interim period.
Maria is an active member of a number
of professional bodies, including The
Geomancy Group of which she is a founding member, The
British Society of Dowsers (Council Member), and the said BSD’s
Earth Energies Special Interest Group, of which she is Chair. Maria has also contributed
as a member of the editorial team for the journals of all
three groups and is a member of The
Labyrinth Society.
